Is "workaholic" inefficient?
According to the Daily Mail of the UK, the latest research from the University of Padua in Italy found that excessive work addiction not only hurts the body, but also affects efficiency.
Workaholic "is used to describe those employees who are compulsively addicted to work and maintain this state for a long time. However, if you think that working hard and taking the company as your home can bring you success and promotion, you are wrong. According to the Daily Mail of the UK, the latest research from the University of Padua in Italy found that excessive work addiction not only hurts the body, but also affects efficiency.
The research team investigated the performance of 322 employees in private enterprises within 15 months. Each respondent filled in a self-evaluation report to determine their "workaholic characteristics" level, and the psychologist assessed their psychological stress, while the supervisor assessed their work performance, and their sick leave duration was also included in the investigation. The results showed that the employees who forced themselves to overwork had higher psychological and physical pressure, worse work performance and longer absences from sick leave.
Researchers believe that often working overtime, taking work home, or spending too much time thinking about work, or even putting too much emotion into work, means that workaholics have no time to "recover" themselves. Researchers stressed that after hard work, there must be appropriate time for physical and psychological relaxation and recovery to ensure the best state of physical function.
The workaholic state will also lead to increased psychological pressure, poor work performance and longer sick leave. Therefore, if you are a workaholic, you should consider changing your work rhythm and habits. Let yourself have a better state to face the work.
