The root cause of your unhappiness at work is a fantasy

Work, for most people, is an integral part of every day. However, some people find themselves feeling unhappy at work. Why is this? After digging deeper, we found a root cause: illusions!

Fantasy means that we have high expectations of our work and unrealistic fantasies about what will actually happen. These fantasies may include unrealistic expectations about salary, promotion opportunities and working environment. When our expectations are grossly out of line with reality, we feel disappointed and unhappy.

In fact, having fantasies is not entirely bad. It can motivate us to pursue a better job and life. However, the question is whether we can look at reality rationally and combine fantasy with reality. For those who are preoccupied with the idea of doubling their salary, getting rich overnight or getting promoted quickly, fantasy can often be the main cause of unhappiness.

First, let's look at salary. Many people have high salary expectations before they start their careers. They may have heard that the average salary in a particular industry or company is high and expect that they will receive the same. However, the reality is often harsh. Few people get paid well immediately, and promotions take time and effort. When we realize that there is a big gap between our salary and our expectations, we will inevitably feel disappointed and unhappy.

Secondly, the working environment is also an important factor contributing to illusions of grandeur. Many people tend to fantasize that they will be able to work in a perfect work environment with free space and unlimited resources. However, the reality is that most work environments have some problems, whether it's difficulty in teamwork or too much pressure from a supervisor. It's easy to feel frustrated and dissatisfied when we realize that the work environment doesn't live up to our fantasies.

Finally, promotion opportunities are also a focal point for illusions of grandeur. Many people want to be quickly promoted to high positions and become successful in the eyes of others. However, promotion is a process that takes time and effort. Few people can reach their goals overnight. When we realize that the path to promotion is not as smooth as we expected, we feel frustrated and disappointed.

So how do we get rid of our illusions of grandeur and be happier at work? First, we need to make reasonable adjustments to our expectations. Don't blindly pursue high salary, perfect working environment and quick promotion. Instead, we should set reasonable goals according to our own conditions and actual situation. Secondly, we need to learn to accept the reality. The working environment and promotion opportunities may not be perfect, but we can gradually change these situations through our own efforts and accumulation.

By being rational about reality, adjusting our expectations, and working hard to achieve our goals, we can be happier and find fulfillment in our work. Remember, fantasies can motivate us to move forward, but we can't ignore reality either.
